Time with the OLD friends!

In 2004, my high school class of 1974 had their 30 year reunion. I usually don't go to the reunions because, well, just everybody I want to keep up with, I keep up with. But I was brow beat by a couple of guilt throwing heavies, and capitulated along with a couple of old friends, Cindy Caldwell and Jennifer Bugg (their maiden names, not aliases). Along with another friend, we got a couple of adjoining rooms and had a great time. We got there early, made sure each other was zipped with no toilet paper on our shoes, had a fortifying glass of wine in our room and headed down to the reunion. We had a blast! Throughout the evening, we threw all of our neuroses to the wind and just enjoyed dancing with each other and any of the "old geezer" men who were there! We danced until way after midnight, then went up to our rooms to discuss what everybody was wearing, who hadn't changed, who had gotten fat, who had gotten face lifts .... you know, the usual stuff!
By breakfast the next morning, we realized we had been having way too much fun, so we decided to get together for dinner as soon as we could. We traded business cards and phone numbers and headed out; and I honestly think we really never considered that we would do it! A few e-mails and phone calls later, we got together at a restaurant somewhat central to everybody's home-base and again, had a wonderful evening. By this time, several other old friends had heard about our pact and were inducted into our little soire.
Since then, thanks to the efforts of a couple of the SORD's (you had to be there for the naming of the group), we've had a get together almost every month. This year, we've had some special occasions because each of us turns 50 ... and we celebrate as silly, but as loving as we can with each birthday. The same "5" "0" candle burns at each of the birthdays, and mine being in December, I'll just have a couple of nubs. Rose will be the last of our group with a January birthday ... almost a full year behind some of the others (Mimi)!
We love our high school sisters. We've been through some of the trials of menopause, men, children, homes, jobs ... you name it! But what gets said at SORD's, stays at SORD's, so I won't tell all!
Last Friday, we had a small get together at JB's "gal pad" down in Tucker. Here's Cindy getting a "Bubba Kiss" as he is the only man allowed at SORD functions. Cindy is back from her beachy vacations, Louie from her fly fishing, Jennifer and her daughters from Paris, so we shared photos and ate chicken. We're all at different stages in our family lives, and we all are from different walks with regards to jobs and religion, but there is a definite sisterhood there!
Here's some of the SORD's - others were still vacationing with their kids, flying the friendly skies, dancing with dolphins or managing pageants ... we missed you guys! That's Louie (Sex Rays), Cindy (Jammie Poo) and Jennifer (JB).
